Every headphone is measured before it is boxed and the curve goes in with it, taken from that unit rather than from a reference sample. About one in three hundred is outside tolerance and never ships. That rig, and why a reference sample is not good enough, is written up in the Lab.

Where a figure is worse than a competitor’s, it is on the page in the same size as the ones that are better. The battery life we quote is measured at 60% volume with noise cancelling on, which makes our headline number look poor and matches what you will get.
Supported for as long as we said
Eight years of firmware from release, as a term of sale. Parts held for eight years after a model is discontinued, with prices published. The last firmware release is unlocked so somebody else can carry on after us.
What we are not
We are not the cheapest, and on thinness and on headline specifications we lose to most of the market. A socketed battery and ten screws cost about three millimetres. That is the trade, made deliberately, on every product here.
