Baked the morning you asked for

Eight cakes, a counter of pastries, and three days’ notice. Nothing here is made before it is wanted.

  • Nothing is made in advance Cakes are baked the morning they are collected. That is why we ask for three days rather than offering next-day delivery.
  • Seasons close the list The fraisier exists from May to July. When the fruit stops we take it off rather than switch to fruit that tastes of nothing.
  • The praline is ours So are the curd, the ganache and the puff pastry. Three things arrive finished: chocolate, butter and flour.
  • Allergens are answered, not listed One kitchen handles wheat and nuts. We say so on every page rather than printing “may contain” and hoping.

A small box. A thoughtful gesture.

For the host.
For the table.
Just because.

Bring a box, share a cake, or pick something from the counter. A little planning leaves more time for the occasion.

Why we close on Mondays

The house

Nine people and one oven

We opened in 2016 in a former ironmonger’s with two people and a list of nine things. There are nine of us now and about forty things, which is roughly the right rate of growth for a kitchen that wants to know where everything came from. We close on Mondays. The macarons need two days between shell and filling, the laminated dough is rolled the day before it is baked, and nobody should work six days for a pastry.

How to read our allergen list

The difference between "gluten-free" and "safe for a coeliac" is a sentence we would rather write than have you assume.
