Read the grain.

Choose a material through its construction, surface and everyday care.

Choose
your ground.

Read the grain. Compare the tone. Then see a physical sample in the light of your own room.

5 material studies

Digital colour studies, not product swatches. Species, grade and finishing system must be confirmed from actual samples.

More than a colour.

Species & character
Grain, knots, sapwood and natural variation contribute to the appearance. Confirm the grade and review a representative sample range.
Construction
Solid and engineered products have different constructions and installation requirements. Assess the actual product against the supporting floor and heating system.
Surface & sheen
Brushing, staining, oil and lacquer affect both appearance and maintenance. Compare samples in daylight and the intended evening lighting.
Sample to specification
Record the supplier, product, dimensions, grade, finish and compatible installation system. Digital images cannot establish the final colour or texture.
